This morning Kyle woke up about 6.  Dad and Erika were still sleeping so Kyle and I talked quietly.  One of the first things he told me was that “No Feet” his teddy bear wanted to go home.  I said, “That’s too bad because we were going to go to an amusement park today.”  Kyle turned to No Feet and relayed what I had said.  Then  he turned to me and told me No Feet wanted to go to the amusement park, too.  We had an entire conversation with him telling No Feet what I said and then telling me what No Feet said.  It was comical, really, but I also realized it was his way of telling me that he was still nervous and anxious about the trip.  I talked him into taking a tub - thinking that would give him something to do and still let Dad and Erika sleep a little longer.  When we came out of the bathroom Dad and Erika were awake.  Apparently running the water for the tub was loud enough to wake them.

We all got dressed and went down for the continental breakfast.  The kids both ate well and the meal was good.  We went back to the room so I could curl my hair and finish packing.  We got on the road and headed to the amusement park - not sure how much road construction we would hit.

We made good time, no traffic delays, and arrived at the park a half hour early.  The kids were so excited they had a hard time waiting.  Kyle had a bit of a meltdown in the parking lot but we were able to talk to him and calm him down and explain that everyone was waiting for the gates to open.  While waiting we saw the workers arrive and the rides begin to go.  We saw the train ride go around the park.  Kyle decided he wanted to ride that first and we agreed that was probably a good idea so we could see the whole park and all the rides.  Finally, we got in at 11:00.

We rode the train and found the rollercoaster.  The kids were a little apprehensive but wanted to go on it.  We rode it and they loved it.  It was a fun little ride for their age group.  There were no lines for the rides as we were there right when it opened so we went from ride to ride and got on right away.  We felt about 10 drops of rain at 11:45 and I was afraid it was going to ruin the day but it stopped and cleared.  The kids rode everything they wanted to - several times - and we had lunch there.  Kyle’s favorites were the train and the rollercoaster.  Erika’s were the ferris wheel and the Model T cars that she could drive.  We did everything from bumper cars to the log boats to the carousel to the tilt a whirl.  They did lots of kiddie rides, too.  They had a blast.  We left about 4:00 and drove to Sara’s (DH’s oldest daughter) new apartment.

We visited there with her and the kids until she had to get ready for work.  Then we went to dinner and the kids ate well.  We went and checked into our new hotel which was really nice.  When we arrived there was a fruit basket, bottled water, a huge assortment of candies for the kids, grape soda, and a note welcoming them to the hotel.  They thought they were pretty important.  We took showers as we were all sweat-balls.  The kids got to bed about 9.  Kyle went right to sleep, but Erika put up a little bit of a fight.  She was down by 9:30.  DH and I got up and watched TV for an hour or so and went to bed after the news.

This was a very successful day.  Other than a few problems with waiting for rides once the park got busier, Kyle did well.  The amusement park was a huge hit.
